The Battle of Chemnitz (14 April 1639, Gregorian calendar) took place near the town of Chemnitz, in Electorate of Saxony, during the Thirty Years' War. Swedish forces under Johan Banér inflicted a crushing defeat on Rodolfo Giovanni Marazzino (or von Marzin) who commanded the Saxons and an Imperial detachment under Johann Christoph von Puchheim who was captured by the Swedes.
